Terms of Service
Last updated 10 July 2026
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Ten to One ("Ten to One", "we", "us") is a voice-first dating service operated from the United Kingdom. These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and us and govern your use of the Ten to One mobile applications, the tentoone.app website and every related service (together, the "Service").
By creating an account, joining the waitlist or otherwise using the Service you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You can contact us at any time at support@tentoone.app.
2. Eligibility — you must be 18 or over
The Service is strictly for adults. You may only create an account if you are at least 18 years old. We enforce this with a date-of-birth check at signup and technical controls that reject under-18 birth dates, and we will terminate, without notice, any account we reasonably believe belongs to a minor. If you believe a user is under 18, report them in the app or email us immediately.
You also confirm that:
- you have never been convicted of, and are not required to register as an offender for, a sexual offence or an offence involving violence;
- you are legally able to enter a binding contract and are not prohibited from using the Service under UK law or the law of the country you access it from;
- you will use the Service for yourself, not on behalf of anyone else.
3. Your account
You must provide accurate information when creating your account (including your real date of birth) and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for everything that happens under your account. You may hold only one account at a time, and you may not share, sell or transfer it.
We may ask you to verify your phone number or complete photo (selfie) verification before you can use certain features. Verification badges indicate that a selfie matched the profile's photos at the time of review — they are not a guarantee of anyone's identity or intentions.
4. How the Service works
Ten to One is built around short voice messages. When two people match, they exchange voice notes on a countdown that gives both people the same time at each level: each person may record up to ten seconds, then each up to nine, and so on down to one second (about twenty notes in total). Both people then decide whether they want to meet. If both say yes, a time-limited text chat opens so they can arrange a real-world date. Free accounts have a daily limit on profile decisions (swipes); paid tiers raise or remove certain limits.
We may change, suspend or discontinue features (including limits, countdown rules and free allowances) at any time. Where a change materially reduces a paid feature you have already paid for, we will give you reasonable notice and, where required by law, a proportionate refund.
5. Voice recordings, transcripts and content moderation
The Service is voice-first, so recording, storing and processing your voice is core to what it does. By sending a voice intro, voice note or voice like, you understand and agree that:
- your recordings are stored and delivered to the people you send them to (your voice intro is playable by people who can see your profile);
- recordings may be automatically transcribed, and transcripts may be automatically screened against a list of prohibited terms to detect scams, harassment and other abuse;
- flagged content, and content that is the subject of a user report, may be reviewed by our human moderation team, including listening to the audio and reading the transcript;
- we may remove content, restrict features, suspend or ban accounts based on moderation outcomes.
You keep ownership of the content you create. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, transmit and display that content solely to operate, moderate, secure and improve the Service. This licence ends when your content is deleted from our systems, except where we must retain it for legal or safety reasons (see the Privacy Policy).
6. Community rules
When using the Service you must not:
- harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk or defame anyone;
- send sexual content to someone who has not asked for it, or any content that is unlawful, hateful, discriminatory or obscene;
- solicit money, run scams or romance fraud, promote commercial services, or direct users to other platforms for paid content;
- impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity or age;
- use another person's likeness, voice or photos without their consent, including AI-generated or manipulated media;
- scrape, harvest, or use automated systems (including bots or AI agents) to access the Service or other users' data;
- record, screenshot or share other users' content or personal information outside the Service without their consent;
- attempt to bypass safety systems, rate limits, bans or moderation.
Breaking these rules can lead to content removal, feature restrictions, an immediate ban and — where we believe someone is at risk or the law requires it — a referral to law enforcement.
7. Safety — and what we cannot promise
We invest in safety: photo verification, transcript screening, human moderation, in-app blocking and reporting, and automatic hiding of matches after a report. However, we do not run criminal background checks on users, and we cannot guarantee anyone's identity, intentions or behaviour. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users, online and offline. Meet in public, tell someone where you are going, and never send money to someone you met on a dating service. If you feel unsafe, contact local emergency services first, then report the user to us.
8. Subscriptions, payments and boosts
Some features require a paid subscription (Plus or Premium) or a one-off purchase. Payments are processed by Stripe (and, where you subscribe through an app store, by Apple or Google under their terms); we do not store your full card details. Prices, billing periods and included features are shown at the point of purchase.
- Renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
- Cancellation: you can cancel at any time in the app or via your app store; you keep paid features until the end of the period already paid for.
- Cooling-off: if you are a UK/EU consumer you have a 14-day right to cancel a new subscription. By starting the subscription immediately you agree that, if you cancel within the 14 days, we may deduct a proportionate charge for the days already used.
- Refunds: except as required by law, payments are non-refundable, including when your account is banned for breaching these Terms.
9. Suspension, bans and termination by us
We may suspend or terminate your account, restrict features, or remove content at any time if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, created a risk for other users or for us, or where the law requires it. For serious breaches (for example fraud, threats, or contact with minors) we may ban you immediately and without prior notice. Where reasonable, we will tell you the general reason for the action. You may contest a moderation decision by emailing support@tentoone.app.
10. Deleting your account
You can request deletion of your account at any time in the app's settings. Your profile is immediately hidden and your account frozen; after a 30-day grace period (during which you can change your mind and cancel the request) your account, profile, photos, voice recordings, messages and matches are permanently deleted. See the Privacy Policy for what little we retain afterwards and why.
11. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, branding and the "Ten to One" name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer or create derivative works from any part of the Service except where the law allows it.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, that you will get matches or dates, or that other users' content is accurate. To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude all implied warranties. Nothing in these Terms affects the statutory rights you have as a consumer under UK law, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
13. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under UK law.
Subject to that, we are not liable for: the conduct of any user, online or offline; loss of profits, data or goodwill; or any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you for all claims arising out of the Service is limited to the greater of £100 and the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material we will notify you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not accept them, stop using the Service and delete your account.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You and we each agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts, and nothing prevents you relying on mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in.
16. Miscellaneous
These Terms (with the Privacy Policy) are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in force. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, and will notify you if we do.
